Activities

We love spending time with our residents, for us, the key is getting to know you, your story, and your interests.  We want to help you live fully by enjoying the hobbies you’ve always had, supporting you as you adjust to life in your new home, and offering you the chance to gain new experiences.

Our daily activity programme spans five different areas: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual. We know first-hand how programmes like these help people connect, pursue their interests, and stay engaged. Programmes are designed to accommodate all levels of ability, and we place great importance in you helping us deliver activities you enjoy.

Our staff will support you in following your own interests and give you the opportunity to enjoy group activities often themed during the year such as:

  • Bingo, Dominoes and weekly quizzes.
  • Arts and Crafts.
  • Keep fit / gentle exercise.
  • Gardening
  • Guest speakers and entertainers.
  • Summer Chalet in North bay.
  • Children’s visits from local nurseries.
  • Shopping trips.
  • Visits to places of local interest.
  • In-house shopping.
  • Film nights – with ice cream and popcorn
  • Themed evenings – for example Hawaiian night complete with mock cocktails and grass skirts

Although we are a Quaker Care Home, visits from local representatives from all faith groups are welcomed and organised in accordance with residents wishes. This includes services in the lounge.

All our activities are funded by our ‘resident fund’. We hold several fundraising activities throughout the year and welcome any donations.

“I have worked at Ravensworth Lodge since 2015, first as a care staff member before moving onto activity coordination. I love getting to know the residents, and spending quality time with them. I have a person-centred approach towards my job and feel it is important to get to know every individual as well as possible so that I can use this to my advantage when planning activities, trips, and visitors to come into the home. I love my job and also enjoy keeping residents family members up to date with regular email and photo updates. If you would like to contact me my email address is activities@ravensworthlodge.co.uk”
